Basil - Dark Opal is an annual to 70cm with striking dark purple, slightly crinkled leaves. This variety is aromatic, bearing a clove-like scent and the leaves have a sweet, savory, and earthy flavour with notes of anise, ginger, cinnamon, clove, and mint. In the summer, the plant produces small lilac-pink, edible flowers on dark upright stalks.
