Canna indica

Also known as Canna Lily

  • Long-lived perennial 100 - 200cm
  • Delicate red flowers spring through summer
  • Edible, glossy emerald green foliage
  • Looks great mass planted in blocks of a single colour

Canna Indian Shot  is a long-lived (i.e. perennial) herbaceous, clump-forming plant growing to 200cm and spreading laterally by means of fleshy underground stems (i.e. rhizomes). Features delicate red flowers and edible, glossy emerald green foliage. Produces interesting seed pods prior to flowering, that resemble shotgun pellets - hence the name.

Since most of the cannas with dazzling flowers are hybrids, starting canna lilies from seed may not give you the same variety.
