Ponytail Palm is a small tropical tree to 2m, native to Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. It can grow taller in the right conditions. The palm has a single trunk and long strappy green, finely serrated edge leaves. The enlarged base of the trunk, known as a globose cordex, stores water, making this a drought tolerant plant. Mature plants produce eye catching flower spikes, covered in pale green cream flowers, which contain seeds. Makes an ideal feature tree for warm climates. Suited to container growth indoors.
